At OBBC we stock skimboards from ZAP, VICTORIA, EXILE and SHORTBUS (Coming Summer 2008). We offer kids' size skimboards for under $100 and adult size skimboards for as low as $140-$165. For experienced skimboarders we carry a full range of high quality, hand made boards, including models manufactured with carbon fiber and texalium. If you are looking for something custom, or just something different, we can take special orders. SHORTBUS Skimboards will be introducing new RESIN INFUSION technology available in both stock and custom models. This technology involves saturating the fiberglass coth by using a vacuum to pull resin through the foam during the laminating stages of manufacturing. By using this new laminating technique, versus the traditional method of pouring resin onto the cloth and foam, SHORTBUS skimboards are both extremely light and strong. So What's the Difference? The differences between $30 skimboards and $100 skimboards, and $150 and $350 skimboards, are mostly contributed to the manufacturing methods and materials used to construct the boards. A $30 skimboard typically resembles a piece of laminated plywood, and although this might be perfect for kids during their beach week, these boards cannot - and are not designed to - withstand the inherant durations of abuse associated with high performance skimboarding. A person's weight is the most critical consideration when selecting a skimboard, and $30 wooden skimboards are often too small and too flimsy to support the weight of normal people.
