Jesse Hines Surf Camp by Outer Banks Boarding Company
General Information
|
The first day will consist of safety instruction, etiquette instruction, on land standing techniques and in water basic wave catching instructions. The first part of the day will be an hour and a half long, followed by a break for hydration and rest. The second part of the day will include a safety review, followed by more wave catching fun. Most of the wave catching will be assisted by an instructor. The second and third days will each review safety and etiquette, followed by more surfing. During these two days, each surfer will be progressing at a different rate. The instruction will be tailored to each individual’s needs. By the end of three days, each surfer should be able to indentify catchable waves, judge the speed and angle necessary to catch waves, catch waves, stand and ride them. Each surfer should also have a full understanding of etiquette in the water with respect to other surfers and other beach and ocean users. Each surfer should also have a full understanding of rip currents, and proper safety techniques to make their session safe and enjoyable for themselves and other beach and ocean users. Each camper should gain a profound respect for the ocean, and also what an amazing gift the ocean is to all of us. A deposit of $100.00 is required to secure a reservation for the camp. The deposit is refundable in full up until 2 weeks prior to the camp date. Once the two week period has been entered, the deposit can either be used as a store credit for online or in store purchases or to make another reservation for a different date of the surf camp. In the event that the surf is too large or the seas too stormy or the weather is too inclement, the camp may have to be cancelled for the week. If this is the case, all monies will be refunded in full. This should be considered a fairly likely scenario for at least one of the weeks of the camp. Other activities that may be included in the surf camp could be a visit to a surfboard factory, or in the case of the non novice week, potential field trips to locations on Hatteras Island for more demanding conditions. Also included with the purchase of the surf camp is a discount structure for purchases made at Outer Banks Boarding Company (www.outerbanksboarding.com ). 20% off in store purchases made during the week of the camp (not including sale items, surfboards or skateboards) and a $50 discount on any new, non sale surfboard or $100 off an accessory package with the purchase of any new, non sale surfboard. Online purchases for future dates will be discounted with a coupon that is tendered to the customer with the completion of the camp. We are very concerned about the safety of the camper. The camp instructors are required to have their cpr certification prior to giving instruction. A fully stocked first aid kit will be present on the beach at all times. Their will be a tent on the beach to provide shade. Nags Head Lifeguards begin motorized patrols at about 9 AM, and they are equipped to handle 911 calls. The Outer Banks Hospital is located in Nags Head, 4 miles south of OBBC. |
